Axis and allies 1940 second edition strategy guide

The US entered the war in the Atlantic and mobilized units to Gibraltar. Italy continued to build up its naval force and infantry to start pushing units to the heavily defended North Africa on the next round. Round 5, Germany took Rostov and Bryansk to build a defensive block to the south. Russia took back Bryansk on its turn and positioned itself for a big counter on Rostov. Italy defended what it had and bottled up its navy in Rome on 95 to defend the homeland.

The Allied navy was defensively stronger due to the fleet coalition. Round 6, Germany blitzed a tank and a mech infantry through Caucus and North Persia to get big oil reserve money. Germany backed up the weakly defended Rostov and moved the infantry to Ukraine and the tanks and mechs back to Bessarabia to await more infantry support. This Russian movement south weakened Novgorod defenses, so Germany hit Novgorod with everything in reach to hold the territory.

Germany countered Southern France from Normandy infantry with all bombers and planes in range. Russia decided to do a heavy attack on Belarus to take out the northern German front with everything Russia had in range. This left all Russian tanks exposed for a round 8 counter because there was no counter behind Belarus.

US made a critical mistake with its med transports by moving them into sea zone 91 unescorted and left the US attack fleet in sea zone 93 by Southern France. The US player did not think the Italian player would take the risk to move, but the Italian player was advised to attack Gibraltar because the navy was stronger defensively than the US fleet offensively and there were no allied loaded transports in range of Rome.

Italy used its carrier planes to hit the transports in 91 and took Gibraltar to lock the US fleet in the Med. The US also moved fully loaded transports outside of UK on from Washington into a thought safe zone to set up an amphibious assault with the UK navy on round 8. Germany sent a mass of bombers and fighters from the German air bases in France and Western Germany to take on the transports and three UK fighters. Round 8, Germany moved 5 infantry and other units in range to attack Belarus that comprised of 6 tanks, 2 mechs, 2 fighters, 1 tactical bomber and 3 strategic bombers to take out the heavily defended Russian zone that contained 9 infantry and 4 tanks.

All German infantry were lost, but no mechs and tanks. At this point, most of the Russian attack pieces have been eliminated from the board.

German dominance looked promising at this point. The remaining Russian territories were lightly defended with infantry and two fighters and the UK and US were nowhere in sight on the Atlantic coast.

The US and UK starting pulling all reinforcements into the Pacific and Indian ocean to aid the war against Japan because a European landing looked hopeless. The game ended here. Germany and Italy had full control of the Med and Atlantic. Bunnies P. Wrath has written this guide for intermediate to advanced players of the Spring edition of Axis and Allies, released in This guide includes the basic strategies for Axis and Allies in , along with separate advice for every nation, and some common openings.

Make sure their reinforcements arrive in time, especially if the frontline is far away from your major production facilities. Starting from your major production facilities, it can be a long route to reach the enemy capital. For example, from Berlin to Moscow at infantry speed without transports takes 5 rounds:. A lot can happen in 5 rounds. Plenty of time to mount a defense.

For example, the German bowling ball strategy invests in a large force to move from Berlin straight into Moscow. Surely, 30 artillery will beat 10 infantry? This is an ideal situation for the allies: Germany is heavily invested in the Russian front, at the expense of the Atlantic wall, without being able to capture Moscow. A typical pitfall is to retreat armies to Leningrad, which allows the German army to bypass those and reach Moscow without those reinforcements. But there are is no other way to conquer oversees territories.

Transports are essential. Italy took a bit of a beatdown in the Med. Killed off UK and French Navy though. RAF still strong. They did get Yugo and Greece though. Idk, probably not a good idea, but I still wanna see Rommel in N Africa.

It does tie some British forces up and even some USA navy though. Are you sending some mech from W Germany and a tank? That would make the med quicker to get a wolfpack in. I got a single Para in UK tying up like 14 units lol.

Probably being to conservative. Had to land a bmbr in Normandy after killing a UK trprt off Gib. Remember: if France is recaptured by UK Paratroopers, France will collect income - and German troops will once again conquer France on the following turn - and claim that income. In other words: the UK player should think twice about liberating Paris. I just would like to comment on your ideas and my own ideas for Germany-they might be flawed, but they somehow work every game.

That is how they lost the war in the first place. Instead, a better idea is to put lost of defensive forces on the border and wait for the Soviet Union to attack, and then counterattack with reserve forces. It takes all Soviet forces to breakthrough, so once the Soviet forces are destroyed, the Soviets have lost the production war and they usually lose. The-Captain Love it! Once again well done. Smooth reading and no typos that I saw. Guess I better bank some next turn lol.

How do you usually get the USA tanks there? Far East if not at war with Japan and then Rail? Need a Naval Task Force to support though. Air Transport? That seems kinda spendy. Caucasus seems kinda time consuming. Also dependent on control of N Africa. Get there faster. I guess those Tanks are handy for forming the Tank Armies or making losses good though. Until then, Japan is next. Luftwaffe is already building them. Might try and make a notification as a reminder as you gotta edit it in.

I buy a Tank General and put him in Belarus.
